Experiences of Norman D. Polk
Webmaster’s Note: I have had the good fortune to be contacted by Jean Polk the wife of Marauderman Norman D. Polk and his son, Jeffrey Polk. They have sent me a treasure drove of materials that I will be posting on this site. Among the materials was the “Experience of Norman D. Polk.” I received the original text from the family but have decided to use a scan of this same autobiographical sketch as published in 344th Bomb Group (M) “Silver Streaks” p266-272 by Lambert D. Austin. You can click each page to make it larger.
As Norman Polk was shot down during the mission to Engers on 2/14/45, here is a link that expands on the mission in regard to the whole 344th BG.
