Memorial Day
Memorial day is a holiday in which we pray for the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. During each mission, the crew of Frank Carrozza’s Shopworn Angel had a special tradition. Once over the English Channel, Pilot, Lt. Shepherd cued Frank to say the Lord’s Prayer.
Frank was retrieved from church services to fly the D-Day missions. No one knew when the invasion was to happen.
These anecdotes surprised me a bit. Dad was not much of a church goer when I was growing up in Levittown, Long Island.
